It\u2019s back to school time for many \u2013 but not for all.\u00a0 <\/strong> September is National Childhood Cancer month. We dedicate this month\u2019s issue to all children who inspire us with their brave fight against cancer. \"A<\/p>\r\n

Too many, too soon<\/em><\/h4>\r\n

Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children<\/h2>\r\n

Roughly\u00a016,000 children\u00a0in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer every year \u2013 or 43 every single day.<\/p>\r\n

95%\u00a0of children who manage to survive childhood cancer will have significant, health related issues by the time they\u2019re 45.\u00a0These are the side effects of childhood cancer and its current treatments.<\/p>\r\n

Childhood cancer rates have been rising for the past few decades \u2013 it\u2019s up to 27% for those under the age of 19<\/p>\r\n

Leukemia \u2013 the #1 form of cancer in children\u00a0\u2013 is driving the increase, possibly due to environmental causes<\/p>\r\n

And yet, too little<\/em><\/h4>\r\n

Too little funding, research, and drugs are focused on addressing childhood cancer<\/h2>\r\n

Only 4%\u00a0of the billions of dollars that are annually spent on cancer research and treatments are directed towards treating childhood cancer.<\/p>\r\n
