{"id":791,"date":"2019-10-15T14:21:23","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T14:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hofferplastics.com\/?p=791"},"modified":"2025-11-13T22:16:58","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T04:16:58","slug":"its-national-work-and-family-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hofferplastics.com\/resonations-newsletter\/its-national-work-and-family-month\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s National Work and Family Month"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>In this issue, we highlight the importance of creating healthier, more flexible work environments and share highlights of some innovative approaches. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Employee Benefits placard\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hofferplastics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/iStock-687811024.jpg\" alt=\"Employee Benefits placard with bokeh background\" width=\"704\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\r\n<h2>Work\/Life Balance: A Top Priority<\/h2>\r\n<p>A healthy work\/life balance is vitally important to those currently employed and those seeking prospective jobs<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>53% of employees say a role that allows them to have greater work-life balance and better personal well-being is \u201cvery important\u201d to them.\u00a0(Source:\u00a0Gallup State of the Workplace poll)<\/li>\r\n<li>After an attractive salary and long-term job security, employees rank \u201cgood work-life balance\u201d as an important attribute in gauging the attractiveness of an organization.\u00a0(Source:\u00a0Randstad Employer Brand Research Report)<\/li>\r\n<li>Another survey found that work-life balance won out over both salary and flexible schedule as the most important factor when evaluating a job prospect. This was consistent among people who are parents and those who aren\u2019t.\u00a0(Source: FlexJobs Survey)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>A healthy work\/life balance leads to higher employee satisfaction, productivity and retention.<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>The Corporate Executive Board found that employees work 21% harder when they feel they have adequate work\/life balance and are 33% more likely to stay.<\/li>\r\n<li>In contrast:\u00a054% of Americans don\u2019t use their full vacation time, typically due to work\/life balance challenges.<\/li>\r\n<li>These challenges also lead to increased absenteeism, averaging 6 days each year per employee and costing U.S. businesses $80 billion annually. Health care expenditures are 50% higher for workers who report a high level of stress.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Employers Must Do More<\/h2>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hofferplastics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/iStock-1160945897-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Only 23% of employers feel that they are \u201cExcellent\u201d in helping employees balance personal and professional work\/life demands.\u00a0(Source:\u00a0Deloitte Global Human Capital Trends)<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>And although companies have improved their efforts and programs, the Hay group found that more than 25% of employees at organizations who\u00a0perceived\u00a0no support for work\/life balance plan to leave their employers within the next two years.
